Carousel not working on initial load

By default i have my OnsenUI app open up to google chrome Iphone 7 view. When the page first loads, my buttons for the carousel do NOT work. When i click on the button the carousel is suppose to toggle to another ons-carousel-item. However, when i change the view to any other mobile view (iphone x, samsung galaxy) then the carousel toggles properly. What i did was change my default view to another mobile device and still the same thing. Im interacting with the DOM in the ‘init’ part of the life cycle. Ive literally done everything, put the code into ons.ready and nothing. Can someone please assist.
